A Corporate Identity Manual, CI Guideline, BrandBook or Guide to a brand is a vital document used to detail the official guidelines for a company’s brand. It specifies and details everything from the construction of the logo, colours, typefaces and layout principles to corporate stationery design, website rules, branded merchandise and so much more. It is a comprehensive document intended for use by a company, its employees and suppliers in order to consistently and effectively translate those principles across the brand’s various touch points. It must be used in such a way that ensures the brand is always delivered and executed consistently so that clients, customers and intended target markets are never left confused.

 

CI Manual creation is something I have always enjoyed as it is a systematic approach to conveying the brand in the most straight-forward and easy-to-understand manner. I have created manuals for small NGOs, who require a few basic guidelines, to manuals for large blue-chip companies, corporates and major banks that require in-depth detail across their various divisions, communication channels and disciplines.
